Because of this commitment, Whole Foods faced a unique challenge among food retailers; how to manage energy costs while staying true to their corporate mission. Starting in 2004, Whole Foods engaged the services of SunEdison to deploy renewable solar energy at prices equal to or below existing retail energy rates.
