California Power Authority:
California State University at Chico

Chico, CA
Company Overview:
The California Power Authority (CPA) mission is to furnish the citizens of California with reliable and affordable electrical power, ensure sufficient power reserves, assure stability and rationality in California's energy market, and encourage energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy resources.
California State University (CSU) Chico
Installation Type:
Roof Mounted System
Size: 346 kW
Installation Date: June 2006
Project Overview:
The CPA began deploying solar with SunEdison in 2006, and now hosts 4 MW of clean, renewable solar power at eight locations to meet rising energy costs and a state mandate to implement renewable energy. One host is CSU at Chico, a 346 kW roof mounted system installed in June 2006. The university achieves three goals in hosting a solar system: it saves money on their energy bills, supports their state and campus renewable energy goals, and incurs no upfront capital expenses.

Customer Testimonial:
"SunEdison was selected by the California State University system because there were no up-front costs to the University. The entire solar project, the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting is covered by SunEdison with no out-of-pocket costs to the University. Basically, we are leasing our roof to SunEdison, they come in and install their panels, and we pay them a fixed rate with an annual escalation for the power generated from the solar panels over the next 20 years."
