Solar Generation has zero emissions |

Greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide emissions, are released into the environment through the burning of fossil fuels for energy. These emissions are a major contributor to global climate change.
Photovoltaic solar is a zero-emission renewable energy source. When solar is used in place of fossil fuels, there is an immediate beneficial impact for the environment.
The SunEdison solar fleet has: - Produced 212,444,550 kilowatt hours of electricity, to date. That’s enough electricity to meet the needs of:
- 29,303 California residents for a year1 - Avoided the equivalent of 267,233,999 lbs of CO2 emissions. This is the equal to the emissions created by:
- Burning 13,774,948 gallons of gas.2 - Driving 279,631,453 miles.2
**SunEdison typically transfers the environmental attributes (also called renewable energy certificates or “RECs”) associated with its solar systems to one or more third parties, which may or may not be the same party that uses the electricity generated by the system. SunEdison customers that purchase both the electricity and the associated RECs can claim to be using “renewable energy” or “solar energy”. SunEdison customers that purchase the electricity but not the associated RECs can claim to be hosting a solar facility. Additional information about RECs and ownership of environmental benefits can be found at http://www.green-e.org/learn_re_claims.shtml
